Mofongo with Shrimp....sightseeing & eating in San Juan
El Mofongo
First time for everything, right?!!! Well it was my first time eating a mofongo and it was delicious. A very creative dish that mixes two local Puerto Rican ingredients...mashed green plantain and shrimp. You can add any combination of meats, seafood or vegetables in the core of the dish. My choice was the shrimp...Check it out, it was delicious!!! Best place to get a Mofongo in Puerto Rico is El Jibarito. Very GOOD, ENJOY!!!
this looks amazing
ReplyDeletelooks great! shrimp and corn, mm... very warm and homey.
ReplyDeleteThis looks great. So, the shell was made of green plantain and shrimp? It's hard to imagine what it tastes like. I wish I could try it though.:)
ReplyDeleteThat looks good! hmm
ReplyDeleteYep, the green plantain were boiled and mashed into this mound and stuffed with shrimp. It taste like mashed potatoes.
ReplyDeleteOH! I want the recipe! LOL! I remember Guys Big Bit had Mofongo!! I am going to have to try to make it!
ReplyDeleteThis look TERRIFIC!
I love El jibarito. The great thing about mofongo is the combination of mashed plantains and pork rinds, plus any other added meat. Yuca mofongo is awesome, too. That type of mofongo tastes like fried mashed potatoes.
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious! I remember Guy eating and liking Mofongo! I had never heard of it, but I really do want some now!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great post.
