Pear & Apple Oatmeal Crumble

pear & apple

Pears and Apples….Mmmm what a great combination with toasted oatmeal sweetened with honey and sprinkled on top giving this dish a slight crunch as you dig in. I know it’s mouth watering and I can’t seem to stop looking too. So go ahead and make this inviting dessert; you will not be disappointed. Trust me, I know!!!!  Don’t forget to add that scoop of ice cream or whipped cream; it makes it even better. Enjoy

Ingredients:
2 Anjou Pears
1 Jonagold apple
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tablespoon flour
1/4 cup apple cider
1 squeezed lemon juice
3 tablespoon honey
Oatmeal
2 tablespoon cold diced butter, unsalted
Pinch Salt
Any Nut (optional)

Preheat the oven 375 degrees.

Peel the apple and pears. Cut and core the apples into large chunks. Slice the pear in half and core the center of each pear. I used a teaspoon to core the center of my pear. Place the fruit in a large bowl and add the nutmeg, cinnamon, lemon juice and honey.  Mix well. I used a souffle dish but you can use any round baking dish, you mix the 1 tablespoon of flour with the 1/4 cup of apple cider in the baking dish. Place the pears face down inside the dish by placing them on each side of the souffle or baking dish. Cover the pears with the chunks of apples.

In another bowl combine the oatmeal with a pinch of salt, sprinkle of flour and a drizzle of honey. Mix and Sprinkle evenly over the fruit and add the diced butter. Place the baking dish on a sheet pan and bake for 20 minutes or until oatmeal is brown and the fruit is bubbly. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
