Mom made this drink for the 4th of July and it was so good and refreshing. This recipe was adapted from  Taste of Home.

1 cup sugar ( Mom used honey)
2 liters lime carbonated water, chilled
1/2 cup maraschino cherry juice
8 maraschino cherries
8 lime slices

  1. I love limade anything - and this great! Might do your mom's way with the honey....

  2. thanks for sharing...this sounds great. i have a question though. isn'tit hard to dissolve the sugar when it's not hot? i find i have this problem when i try to make sweet tea. any tips? or do i just need to stir for a long time

  3. Yes, it is difficult to dissolve sugar when the water is not hot. The original recipe calls for sugar, but my mom used honey. She just mixed the lime juice with the honey and gave it a big stir. My only suggestion when using sugar is heating up the lime juice enough so that the sugar can dissolve in it quickly. Next, letting the lime juice mixture cool before adding the remaining ingredients. Or maybe you can add the sugar to the lime juice without heating and stir until the sugar dissolves before adding the cold liquids. That’s the only thing I can think of that would dissolve that sugar rather than stirring for hours.

  4. It looks refreshing and definitely must try! Thanks for sharing & beautiful photo.
