Orange Sesame Fried Cauliflower

Orange Sesame Fried Cauliflower

Ingredients:
1 head of cauliflower
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoon arrowroot or cornstarch
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup milk or more to make a smooth batter (almond, buttermilk or whatever you like)
1/4 cup or more coconut oil for frying

Sauce:
Orange Sesame Sauce
1/2 cup water
1/2 juice of orange
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup + 2 teaspoon honey
1 tablespoon arrowroot + 2 tablespoon of water (combine) or cornstarch
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon sesame blend oil
grated orange zest

Step 1: Heat the coconut oil in large pot or wok on medium heat. In a large bowl combine the flour, egg, salt, arrowroot, baking soda and milk. Mix thoroughly until smooth.

Step 2: Cut cauliflower into florets or pieces and season with your favorite blend of seasoning mix. I just used salt, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder.

Step 3: Dip cauliflower florets into the batter and coat evenly (one by one). Fry the florets in batches until golden brown and drain on paper towel.

Step 4: Whisk together the ingredients for the sauce in a small pot: water, orange juice, vinegars, ketchup, honey, garlic powder, soy sauce, cayenne pepper, sesame blend and orange zest. Once sauce has come to a boil reduce heat and add the arrowroot to thicken it. Set aside and cool.

Coat cauliflower florets with sauce and sesame seeds when you are about to eat. I made the mistake by combining some in a bowl and letting it sit for a while and my cauliflower became soggy. So coat when you are ready to eat them!!
